Is LASIK Expensive?

Think of LASIK as an investment in your quality of life. You must compare the one-time cost of LASIK to an overview of what you spend on your glasses and contacts every single year. For some, the costs of lenses can exceed $8,000 over a 10-year period! Our price for LASIK is significantly less – and you’ll get to enjoy life with clearer vision. Our team will inform you about many different ways to afford clear vision such as financing, using Flexible Spending Account (FSA) money and more.

Frequently Asked Questions about LASIK

When you come in for your free LASIK Evaluation, we want you to ask every question you can think of about LASIK, our success rates and our technologies. We will provide honest answers so you’ll feel comfortable about making the decision to trust our team for LASIK. Here are just a few of the questions we hear from patients:

LASIK is virtually painless. Your eyes are numbed with simple eye drops. The only discomfort you should experience is a little pressure during the first step of the process. Afterward, you may experience some itching and redness as your eyes heal, but nothing that medicated eye drops can’t handle.
LASIK recovery is quick. Most people can return to normal activities the very next day. Some people may wish to take a day off of work, but that’s about it. You should expect to be able to drive without lenses the next day, and have vision equal to or better than with contacts by the week’s end. You will see gradual visual improvement throughout the month as your eyes stabilize.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Have had a stable eye prescription for at least one year
  • Have no health issues affecting your eyes
  • Have no signs of glaucoma or cataracts
There are other health and eye-related issues that can deem you a non-candidate for LASIK. The only way to truly know is to undergo a comprehensive exam. Schedule your free LASIK Evaluation with us today!
LASIK in general is an extremely safe procedure. Of the over 14 million Americans who have had LASIK, there is a reported less than 3% complication rate. Plus, most complications are related to quality of vision issues such as dry eyes or poor night vision, not actual vision loss. The good news is that many of these complications have been addressed with advancements in technology. In fact, according to a recent university study, the risk of vision issues is actually 5x higher with regular contact wear compared to LASIK.
No, all LASIK is not the same. There exist earlier generations of technology that are still FDA approved, but don’t provide anything close to the level of accuracy or results of today’s technology.
In short, yes. If you are deemed a good candidate, and choose an experienced surgeon with advanced technology, then you should expect to eliminate your need for glasses. However, as we age, a condition called presbyopia takes effect. The natural lens of your eye becomes less flexible, and the need for reading glasses to see things up close takes effect. There are several treatment options that can correct presbyopia, including a version of LASIK called monovison. If you are concerned about your reading vision, we’d be happy to discuss any and all options you may have.
Don’t worry. Your eyelids will be held open, and the laser we use has Perfect Pulse technology that tracks movement of your eye 400 times per second and accounts for any shifting and twitching to assure perfect placement of treatment. Simply put, this is not an issue.
One of the most common complaints with prior versions of LASIK is that it affected people’s nighttime vision. The fact is that most everyone has nighttime visual issues, with or without LASIK. The good news is that the precision of the Alcon WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser may minimize nighttime vision issues after LASIK. So as long as you choose the right technology, this shouldn’t be an issue.
LASIK costs have been rising since its inception, and technology has improved by leaps and bounds. We are fortunate to be in a time where the technology for LASIK is virtually perfect, and the economy is dictating stable prices in the marketplace. There’s no better time for LASIK than now. Prices are low, and there are no new innovations on the horizon. If cost is a concern, there are many affordable payment options that can leave you free from lenses without hurting your wallet.
LASIK is a big decision, and ultimately you are putting your vision in the hands of someone else. So be sure and do your research. Choose a surgeon who is committed to providing the best: the best technology, the best care, the best environment, and the best results. Choose the surgeon and center you feel the most comfortable with. Take advantage of the comprehensive LASIK evaluation so you can meet the staff and experience the center. After all, LASIK is a life-changing event, and you want to be sure that it exceeds your expectations in every way.
